Friday, March 20th
All interested parties are invited to show up at the VFW in Haebangchon at
9:00 pm.
Everyone will jot down their names and what they would be interested in doing
(acting, directing, writing, tech). The more interests the better!
The MC will then randomly assign each person to a team. An ideal team would be a
writer, 2-4 actors, and a director. This all depends upon how many people show
up so bring your friends! Writers can also be directors.
The teams meet briefly to get to know each other. We then put out a series of
"inspiration buckets" for the writers. Categories can include a first line, a
setting, a prop, a genre, an action, a character quirk, etc. We'll ask that the
teams pick from at least 2 buckets. Teams can choose more if they so desire. The
pieces are meant to be about 5-10 minutes long. The teams discuss a concept for
the piece, then disband, and the writer is left to do some work.
Saturday, March 21st
By 9:00 am Saturday morning the writer needs to email the finished script to the
MC and the rest of the team.
At 10:00 am we all meet again to check in. The writer does not need to be
present. The MC will go over the rest of the day's activities and scheduling
with the teams.
The directors take over at this point. He/she needs to decide a time to work
with the actors and the writer if necessary to rehearse. The director is
responsible for scheduling, props, finding a location to work, etc. We will do
our best to assist you in this!
Depending on the number of pieces, we'll schedule a tech rehearsal about 2
hours before showtime. At 9:00 pm that night, we'll run the show to great acclaim
and party afterwards.
24-Hour Theater was a huge success in 2008 with over 30 participants and 70
audience members. Come early to get a good seat Saturday night!
If you are interested in participating, please email Seoul Players at
or simply show up on the 20th! If you have any questions, just email us.
